Role:
As a Staff Software Engineer (Backend/Infra) at Amigo, you'll lead the design and implementation of our core backend infrastructure during a critical scaling phase. You'll architect systems that enable our platform to scale from initial customers to millions of conversations per month. You'll solve complex technical challenges around reliability, multi-region deployment, and data isolation while maintaining enterprise-grade stability. This role is essential for hardening our platform to maturity and establishing the infrastructure foundation that supports our context graph architecture, functional memory systems, and reinforcement learning capabilities at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement backend services that scale reliably to 100x current volume
• Architect multi-workspace, multi-region deployment capabilities to support enterprise requirements
• Lead initiatives to harden platform reliability, eliminating production disruptions and ensuring consistent performance
• Build comprehensive data isolation mechanisms that maintain security and compliance across customer environments
• Design and implement robust error handling, monitoring, and observability systems
• Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions for reliable, repeatable deployments
• Create systems for seamless production releases with zero downtime
• Build backend infrastructure that supports our unique agent architecture (context graphs, memory systems, dynamic behaviors)
• Architect solutions for compute fleet management and resource optimization
• Collaborate with ML Infrastructure, Platform, and Security teams on integrated solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across infrastructure initiatives
• Work with cloud providers to optimize infrastructure for cost and performance at scale

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience developing backend infrastructure and distributed systems
• Strong expertise in designing systems that scale reliably by orders of magnitude
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS, familiarity with Azure/GCP), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code
• Background building multi-region, high-availability systems with enterprise-grade reliability
• Proficiency in Python, database technologies, and API development
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging complex distributed systems
• Background implementing systems with strict security and compliance requirements
• Understanding of resource management and autoscaling for compute-intensive workloads
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability and scalability
• Strong communication abilities for collaborating across engineering teams
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives
