We're looking for a founding designer to craft how AI search looks, feels, and speaks to the world.

At Mixedbread, we're building search infrastructure that understands meaning, not just keywords. Our models power millions of AI applications, from chatbots that never hallucinate to e-commerce sites that understand "cozy winter vibes."

As our founding designer, you'll own our entire visual language—from product interfaces to brand identity. This isn't just about dashboards. It's about defining how Mixedbread shows up everywhere: our products, website, social media, documentation, and the wider world.

You'll:

Define Mixedbread's visual identity and design system from scratch
Design interfaces that make complex AI concepts feel intuitive
Create our brand voice across all touchpoints (web, social, content)
Shape how developers experience our APIs through beautiful documentation
Invent new visualization patterns for multimodal search (text, images, and beyond)
Design everything from product UI to conference swag to social posts
Partner directly with founders who built search at Google

You are:

A systems thinker who sees brand and product as one
Comfortable designing across mediums (digital, print, motion)
Technical enough to prototype your ideas
Obsessed with craft but focused on shipping
Excited to build a design culture from the ground up
Ready to be the design voice in every room

You've:

Built brand identities that stick in people's minds
Designed developer tools or technical products
Created design systems that actually get used
Shipped work that changed user behavior
Made complex things feel simple and memorable
The grit to do all of the above, if you haven’t

Compensation

Base salary: $120K - $200K
Equity: Significant equity package - we're one of the first 10 hires
