Union Specialty is an AI-native specialty insurance brokerage. We help insurance agents place complex risks (e.g., buildings in wildfire zones) with specialty insurers. It’s a $150B market, but today’s brokers are big bottlenecks. Lukas, our founder, saw it firsthand over many years in the industry.

We're building the industry's most cutting-edge vertical AI platform to change that. Our initial product is live, we're working with some of the largest specialty insurers, and just raised a large preseed round.

###About the role

As the CTO, you join the founding team and own engineering and the technical vision.

Specialty insurance is one of the most critical and least digitized industries in the world. Most of the work still runs on emails, PDFs, phone calls, and manual data entry across disconnected systems. There is an enormous amount to automate. If you've built agentic systems that handle complex, multi-step processes in other regulated industries (lending, legal, healthcare, fintech), the problems here will feel familiar and the market is wide open.

This is as much a product role as a technical one. The CEO brings deep domain expertise. You bring a deep understanding of what cutting-edge AI can actually do to take the product to the next level. You should be the kind of engineer who looks at a messy, manual process and sees three ways to rebuild it that nobody in the room was considering.

You've built agentic systems in production: browser automation, multi-agent orchestration, voice/text AI, and/or workflow automation across disjointed systems.

You think in terms of user problems and business outcomes. You have opinions about what to build and why, not just how.

You're energized by early stage--high risk, high ambiguity, and high rewards.
