Concourse is a venture-backed startup building an AI-powered marketplace to help governments find and buy the best technology—unlocking a $300B+ market opportunity.

Our mission is to transform how the public sector adopts technology by replacing outdated, manual procurement systems with faster, smarter, AI-driven tools. By making it dramatically easier for state and local governments to discover, evaluate, and purchase modern software, we aim to improve how public services are delivered across the country.

We’re closing our seed round with a top-tier VC firm and growing our small NYC-based team. Our office is in Flatiron, a block from Madison Square Park.

About the Founder

Our Founder and CEO, Thomas Smyth, is a previously exited founder who built and sold the fintech startup Trim to a public company in 2021. He later co-founded Abundance NY, a nonprofit focused on pragmatic political change in New York City.

The Role

We’re hiring a Founding Engineer to design and implement AI-first business processes on both sides of our marketplace.

We’re looking for someone who feels the AGI—who deeply understands how powerful AI has already become, and can clearly envision how transformative the next few years will be.

We’re starting to see how AI can change the entire process of building a company. Instead of scaling teams with people, we scale with AI agents—making software development faster and cheaper. There are hundreds of new AI tools released every week (see, e.g., the entirety of the YC class). The foundational models get 10x cheaper every year and are now powerful enough to do human-level tasks. We're looking for someone who is eager to create an AI-native company that’s lean, fast, and infinitely scalable by implementing state-of-the-art AI tooling across the
entire business.

This position sits onsite in our NYC office in Flatiron 5 days per week.

What We’re Looking For

4+ years of engineering experience
Experience building with AI-native tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.)
Familiarity with current foundational models and their capabilities
Bias toward action and comfort operating with high velocity and autonomy
Excitement for helping shape a strong, mission-driven team culture
Interest in bringing cutting-edge technology to the public sector
