Proxima Fusion is seeking a Computational Physicist to play a central, hands-on role in developing and applying state-of-the-art numerical models for fusion plasmas. This position focuses on building, improving, and validating simulation tools and numerical methods, rather than just running existing codes. The successful candidate will leverage modern software engineering practices, including LLM-based assistants, to accelerate development of production-quality simulation tools that inform critical design decisions for future fusion power plants. We are looking for someone with a PhD or Masters in physics, mathematics, or computational physics, proven experience building numerical tools from first principles, and proficiency in languages like Python, Julia, C++, or Fortran.
