Confident SecurityWe are looking for a Software Engineer passionate about building cutting-edge privacy and AI solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend systems and tools that ensure our AI-driven products handle sensitive data securely and in compliance with global privacy regulations. You will collaborate closely with legal, trust & safety, and engineering teams to embed privacy and ethical principles throughout the AI product lifecycle—from ideation to deployment and ongoing maintenance
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, build, and maintain backend systems and services that power privacy and data compliance functions within AI products and consumer applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including legal, product, and AI/ML engineers—to translate privacy requirements and regulations into robust technical solutions.
- Develop and enforce data handling policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and ethical use of user data.
- Identify opportunities for automation and build internal tools to streamline privacy-related workflows, such as data subject requests, consent management, and compliance reporting.
- Participate in the full AI product lifecycle, integrating privacy by design principles from planning and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Respond to legal and compliance requests, such as court orders or regulatory inquiries, by ensuring timely and accurate data handling in accordance with policy.
- Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments to identify and mitigate privacy vulnerabilities in AI systems.
- Stay current with evolving privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and AI ethics standards, and proactively update systems and processes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building backend systems, APIs, and/or data pipelines, ideally in privacy, compliance, or AI/ML contexts.
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar) and familiarity with modern data architectures.
- Ability to translate complex legal/privacy requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
- Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), data anonymization, or secure data processing is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical AI development and user data protection.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work with privacy engineering, trust & safety, or security investigations teams.
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows, model governance, and AI lifecycle management.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) is a plus.
