I’m the CTO of a startup that just raised a $1.5m seed round and we’re hiring an NYC-based founding backend engineer. We’re focused on automating grant compliance at research universities - a $10B/yr market. We’ve started a pilot with a top university, with more in the pipeline.

Must haves

• Significant backend experience
• Experience with data pipelines
• Lives in NYC (or willing to relocate)

Pluses

• Full stack web app experience
• Experience with AI-assisted coding
• LLMOps (evals, observability)
• Infra, CI/CD, Docker/K8s
• Comfortable with SQL / schemas
• Secure audit logging, access-control thinking, SOC2 / HIPAA / fintech exposure
• Integrating with complex APIs
