About the Role

We’re seeking a Mobile Engineer with strong programming skills and a passion for building world-class chess applications. You’ll take the lead on our mobile app development and play a key role in shaping the experience for millions of players worldwide.

This is a fast-paced role with high ownership and immediate impact. You’ll be responsible for building a polished, high-performance mobile experience that feels seamless and delightful to users. On any given day, you might:

Architect and lead mobile app development in React Native or Flutter
Build responsive, beautiful, and performant UIs for chess players across all skill levels
Integrate APIs and extend open-source chessboards for advanced, custom features
Optimize for speed, stability, and mobile-first experiences at scale

Requirements

4+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in Flutter or React Native
Proven experience integrating APIs with mobile frontends
Strong skills in UI/UX and performance optimization
Ability to extend and customize open-source chessboard libraries
Familiarity with existing chess applications
Based in NYC or open to relocation

Nice to Have

Experience leading mobile app launches at scale
Familiarity with real-time or multiplayer gaming systems
Exposure to chess development tools, libraries, or engines
