Founding Engineer @ Opus Health
Location: Austin, Dallas or NYC preferred — Available for in-person work 3-4x a week
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + 0.50% — 3.00% equity
Start Date: July 2025

We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to join us at Opus Health — someone who’s done 0→1 before, loves building elegant products, and can ship with a lean team.

This is a senior, full-stack role — you’ll own our engineering function, shape our technical roadmap, and work directly with the founder and CTO to bring a consumer-grade healthcare product to life. You’ll be the first hire and a true co-creator of the product, team, and platform.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a senior full-stack engineer (or backend-leaning generalist) who’s comfortable operating in ambiguity and thrives on creating structure. You’ve likely worked on consumer-facing products or complex backend systems before — and you’re excited to build something mission-driven from the ground up.

This is a hands-on-keyboard role — you’ll be:

• Owning full verticals (patient flows, provider dashboards, payments UX)
• Leading architecture decisions
• Shipping production code quickly and securely
• Collaborating with the founder and early pilot partners to iterate in real time

We work closely with our users — and we all jump in to talk to customers, support pilots, and improve the product based on what we hear.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core modules: HSA/FSA direct integrations, eligibility verification, payment processing, RPA processes, provider-facing dashboards
• Architect the early platform, help choose and manage integrations with partners like Plaid, Stripe and Finix
• Help launch and scale pilots across mental health, primary care, and neuropsychology
• Establish our engineering workflows, deployment pipelines, and security/compliance practices
• Document, debug, and test across the stack
• Contribute to our engineering culture, including future hiring and mentorship

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 3–6+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly GCP or AWS, and experience designing and deploying highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or building 0→1 products
• Bonus points for working with: healthcare tech, fintech APIs, RPA tools, Stripe/Plaid/Finix integrations
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
