Next Play

Connect your assistant to Next Play

Search jobs, find cofounders, and explore your own matches from Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok Bot.

Private pilot: only enabled employee accounts can connect. Finding this page or adding the server does not grant access. Company accounts are not supported.

MCP server URL

https://nextplay.so/mcp

Use OAuth with automatic client registration. No API key or client secret is needed. Start with read access; profile and saved-job changes require extra consent.

Claude

  1. Open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. Your workspace administrator may need to enable custom connectors.
  2. Name it Next Play and enter the server URL above.
  3. If asked how to register the OAuth client, choose Register automatically.
  4. Choose Connect, sign in to your enabled Next Play employee account, and approve read access.
  5. Enable Next Play in your conversation’s tools, then ask it to use Next Play.

Asking Claude to visit the URL in chat does not install the connector. Claude’s setup instructions.

ChatGPT

  1. On the web, open ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button, and choose Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it Next Play. Under Connection, enter the server URL above.
  3. Select OAuth and dynamic client registration (DCR) when prompted. Leave static client credentials empty.
  4. Review the notice and create the plugin. Install it, then sign in to your enabled Next Play employee account and approve read access when asked.
  5. In a conversation, type @ and select Next Play before asking a question.

Your workspace’s plugin permissions and security settings apply. If custom servers are unavailable, check with your administrator. OpenAI’s setup instructions.

Grok Bot

In Grok Bot, send this message to start adding a custom server:

Add Next Play as a remote MCP server at https://nextplay.so/mcp. Use OAuth and show me the connection card so I can authorize read access.
  1. Follow the Connect card and choose Authorize or Authenticate.
  2. Sign in to your enabled Next Play employee account and approve read access.
  3. Open Connect apps and confirm Next Play appears under Installed with authentication complete.
  4. Type @ to attach Next Play to a task. If it shows Needs auth or Disconnected, choose Authenticate or Reconnect.

These instructions are for Grok Bot, which supports adding custom MCP servers by URL. The regular Grok chat and xAI API have different setup flows. Grok Bot’s connected-app instructions.

Try your first request

  • “Use Next Play to find five remote engineering jobs.”
  • “Use Next Play to show my latest matches and explain which fit my profile.”
  • “Use Next Play to summarize what’s new and show my saved jobs.”

If your assistant cannot connect

  • A browser reports Unauthorized or 401: the MCP endpoint requires OAuth. Follow the setup steps for your assistant instead of using a normal web fetch.
  • The assistant cannot find Next Play: use the custom-server URL above during the pilot. After authorizing, enable or attach Next Play in the conversation.
  • Connector not enabled: the signed-in account has not been approved for the pilot. Use an enabled employee account; registering a connector does not bypass approval.
  • Too many requests: wait before retrying. Reconnecting does not reset your limits.

Control your connection

Review or disconnect assistants in Connected apps. Disconnecting immediately revokes access and refresh tokens.

Requests are limited to 120 per minute and 1,000 per day across your connections, with separate discovery limits to prevent bulk scraping. An assistant can only update your own profile and saved jobs, with your permission.

For developers and agents: tools, OAuth setup, and usage limits. Existing connections using the API server address continue to work.

Setup instructions checked against provider documentation on November 1, 2026. Availability and labels can vary by workspace and app version.
